Chances are you have been frustrated by the inability to edit PDF documents without going out and spending a fortune on Adobe Acrobat and learning yet another program. Well – here are two tools that will allow you to easily convert PDF files to MS Word Format and convert MS Word to PDF documents as well.
Converting a PDF file into Word
I like this tool the best because there is nothing to install – it is all web based. To access the pdf converted go to http://convertpdftoword.net/.
On this page you will see a browse button, click this button and navigate to the pdf document you want to convert.
The web site will chew on the file for a while and eventually display a download button when done. Select the download button to download your converted file in MS Word format.
A couple of items;
•The Formatting is NOT perfect. In the testing I did some of the formatting from PDF did not come across properly into Word. Mostly this was a very minor issue and super easy to correct.
•What about Security. Not sure on this one – obviously they are opening the file you send them – do they have time to read all the conversions the site does – probably not, but they could easily scan for key phrases like ‘password’ and pull this data out. Is this happening – again, probably not, but I sure would not be using an online service to convert some super secret plan – use common sense and keep confidential stuff confidential.
By the way..
This page also sports a PDF password recovery tool which directs you to http://www.pdfpasswordremover.net/ – did not test this but definitely something good to keep handy in case it is needed.
Converting a Word file into PDF
Use PrimoPDF for this (http://www.primopdf.com/). I have used this tool for a long time and it has ALWAYS performed perfectly and never given me any problems. The bonus with using this is that you can convert ANYTHING into a PDF.
Download and install the tool as per the directions on the website. Once this is done you will notice a new ‘printer’ installed on your machine.
The advantage to installing this application as a printer driver is that ANY application that can print, ex: Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Quickbooks, etc. can all be used to create PDF files. Simply access the application of your choice, select print and select the PrimoPDF printer driver and voila.
Good Networking!
